I attended my first secret wedding Friday evening. My sister's best friend's mom was getting married. My dad has worked at her father's company for longer than she has and they are practically part of the family. I did not find out about the wedding till the day of, when my father told me to find an outfit. i was all "WHAAAAAT????". Everyone knew the couple was planning on getting married but no one thought it would be so soon. They only invited around thirty all people and they were all sworn to secrecy. It was all very Hollywood.
The wedding itself took place in the bride's living room (not that shabby, as she is quite well off) and was quite pretty. The brides dress was really simple and beautiful and my sister's best friend and her little brother were very involved in the ceremony. The reception also took place in their house and was full of friends and family.
It all looked well and good... unless you have the inside scoop. The bride split up with her husband at the beginning of the summer and started dating -her now husband- right after that. None of the groom's sons of daughters attended the wedding even though they were all grown and apparently fully capable. There is also word going on that he only married her for the money, and my dad says the marriage will not last six months. I personally don't know the groom very well, so I can't say but.....
